Have You Checked the Knowledge Base?

2/1/2008 by Theresa Sisk

Did you know that Indiana University has one of the best technical support resources on the Web?

The Knowledge Base (KB) (http://kb.iu.edu) was formed in the late 1980's by the UITS Support Center as a central repository for documentation on difficult tasks and answers to frequently asked questions. It has been improved upon over the years, but continues to be a world-renowned technical resource, and has been recognized with several awards and endorsements.

Ever need to know how to set up a VPN connection? The KB will step you through the process. (http://kb.iu.edu/data/akko.html)

Ever wonder what "cookies" are? The KB has an explanation. (http://kb.iu.edu/data/agwm.html)

In the realm of technical support, the KB is a valuable tool often overlooked and underused. Best of all, access to the KB is free and available to everyone, even people not affiliated with IU. So the next time you need to get a technical question answered, try it out!
