Think Twice Before Trashing Electronics!

2/1/2008 by Staff

Effective immediately, all electronic items, whether functional or not, must be referred to Surplus Property: http://www.purchasing.iupui.edu/surplus/index.cfm.

Disposal of electronic equipment is now regulated by the State of Indiana. Any item that contains a circuit board is covered by the regulation. Therefore the following electronic equipment commonly found at IUPUI need to be referred to Surplus Property: TV's, computers, computer monitors, computer mice, cellular telephones, pagers (cellular phones and pagers can be recycled through the campus Recycling Program), remote controls, and any equipment that contains a circuit board. Under no circumstances should any of these items be disposed in the trash. If you have questions, you may contact the Department of Environmental Health and Safety at 274-2005 or HELPnet at 274-3087.
