Helpdesk Support
Our Front Door...
Our friendly and courteous HELPdesk support staff is the hallmark of HELPnet. Our HELPline is the front door
to providing you with answers, computer diagnostics, and troubleshooting. We utilize an advanced suite of
HELPdesk software that helps us respond quickly and efficiently to your requests. Here are just few examples
of questions our HELPdesk staff field everyday:
- My research data was accidentally corrupted. I need it back -- can you help?
- I want high speed access at home. Can you help guide me on what to do?
- Why is my printer not working correctly?
- I need to put information on the web? Can this be made easy for me?
- I would like to have the latest Microsoft Office software -- can you install that for me?
- I would like to access my email and data from home -- can this be done?
The HELPline can also provide information on central computing services from University Information
Technology Services (UITS), which include mainframe and UNIX support, television/VCR or presentation equipment
delivery to classrooms, etc.

Web Services
Web-Enabling Your Department
We specialize in taking ideas and making them work.
We can build custom solutions that will
help you web-enable applications to improve your productivity. Additionally, we provide expert
consulting and support for:
- database administration
- web server administration
- web site design
- web-enabled database applications
- web site monitoring
- graphical design
Example production systems include:
- The Student Services Informationbase (SSI): A web-enabled database application
developed for SPEA and KSB. The SSI allows staff to import data from the Indiana University
Information Environment (IUIE) and PeopleSoft, record additional student data, generate reports and
mailing labels, etc.
- SLIS Web Database Management (WDM): A web-enabled database application designed for
the School of Library & Information Science. The WDM provides a secure administrative site for editing
information and a public site for displaying information. See the SLIS
Schedule of Classes
as an example.
- eFASR: The electronic faculty annual summary report (eFASR) is utilized by SPEA-IUPUI,
SPEA-IUB, and KSB-IUPUI. It provides a centralized database for maintaining the report data and presents an
intuitive Web interface for faculty and staff.
